Thanks hsimone for another great, balanced review! This is going on my Want To Read shelf! Even though the character was disillusioned after he lost his wealth, it sounds like he experienced a freedom and knowledge of himself that he otherwise never would have. How many times in real life do we regret having gone down a certain path, or resisted certain experiences, only to discover they added to our lives immeasurably? I can't wait to read this one!

Thank you, Eastsleaves, for your kind words and thoughts. I love what you said here: "How many times in real life do we regret having gone down a certain path, or resisted certain experiences, only to discover they added to our lives immeasurably?" It is very true and very well-said! When you do get the chance to read this book, I hope you enjoyed it as much as did! :D

Okay, so I'm not much of a historical fiction fan... but I LOVE travelling, and I love trains, so this is kind of intiguing to me, as it totally sounds like something I would be interested in doing, personally. Hahaha. Am I crazy!?! Well, yes, but that was never in doubt.

I find it very difficult to read if errors are there. However, I still like the story, might as well give it a chance.

The book sounds interesting. I'm happy you stated what the issues were. I was also happy to read the authors response that the issues were addressed. The kind you mentioned make it difficult for me to read, even if I am into the story. I'm still on the fence with this book. I think I need an, "on the fence," bookshelf. Haha.

Great review. It sounds like an adventure and a life lesson rolled into one. Formatting issues can mess with the overall enjoyment and might have happened when the original file was converted ( usually file conversions from PDF to say .epub has such errors).

I enjoyed reading your insightful review. I like books where the main character has many facets. Sorry to hear about the formatting errors and name switches. I have noticed the same type of name switches in two books I've reviewed this year. It's very distracting.

Thank you for the review. I really enjoy historical novels and this one sounds like it could be really good. It is too bad that you found the errors in the book distracting and took away from your enjoyment of the book. I am kind of meticulous about things like that, so I am afraid it would bother me too.
