Review: Pretending with the Greek Billionaire by Kira Archer

Post by 60ontheclock »

Uniquely beautiful.

Synopsis:

“Always the life of the party, Luca Vasilakis needs to prove he’s capable of taking over his father’s billion-dollar corporation. The perfect opportunity falls in his arms in the form of the reserved but sexy social worker Constance McMurty. What better way to improve his reputation than to get engaged to a do-gooder who is raising six orphans?

Constance wants nothing to do with Luca. But a poorly timed paparazzi photo lands her in the middle of a media nightmare, and Luca is her only way out. He proposes an idea that will help them both—be his fiancée to gain him some respectability and he’ll make a huge donation to her organization…and save her reputation.

But when their lie starts feeling like the truth, and the chemistry just won’t stop, they have a hard time separating what’s real and what’s fantasy…”

Rating: 5/5

Thoughts:

I don’t think I’ve ever given five stars to a contemporary romance. At least not recently.

Before I go on rambling about the beauty of the story. Something that I didn’t mention in my reviews of Chased by Love and The Sweetheart Deal was their emphasis on the stupidity of news and social media. So I’ll mention it now – this book does an unbelievably wonderful job of telling us all to be aware of “the evil vultures.”

Now that that’s over with.

This book reminds me so much of My Fair Princess. It’s simply so beautiful. The writing, once again, is exquisitely unique, the characters and plot are more than likeable, and all that.

I cant quite say what differentiates it so from the average contemporary romance. Perhaps it’s the fact that, despite all the so-called glamour and out-of-the-ordinary and wealth and all, it is incredibly realistic, both in the setting and the story that takes place in that setting, but also in its portrayal of hardship and love.

I don’t think it would be a lie to say that I didn’t really have expectations for this book. I think that I’ve learned simply not to have too many such hopes, seeing as a lit of books of its sort aren’t all that great. But I was more than surprised.

Ach, and now I can’t think of a good way to conclude these few paragraphs of nonsense. So simply read it and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
