Sci-fi, or sword/sorcery type fantasy. As long as it's not a dictionary-sized, dark or graphically gory, explicitly mature content sort.

(I probably eliminated 80% of modern writers...hence, why I am working on a novel started in NANOWRIMO - writing the sort of story I want to read.)

Ex: Dragonriders of Pern series. Song of Shannara series.

I do like many different genres but my fall back one is historical fiction, preferably the Tudor era. I also like a good psychological thriller. Depending on my mood at the time, I do read horror. Being a reviewer/blogger I come across so many great books by talented self published or indie authors! Happy Holidays!

I love horror the most. Lately I have started getting more into fantasy and other genres, but horror will always be my favorite. It is just so fun to read a horror book in the dark with just a lamp on.

I am a huge fan of dark/mature fantasy. Don't get me wrong, I love the whimsy of regular 'ol fantasy books like Harry Potter (even though I guess you could say the series grew darker overtime) but something about fantasy novels that rely on old fae tales and things that go bump in the night really get my imagination going!

Fantasy, hands down. Paranormal, the occasional sci-fi but hardly ever romance. I also do not like explicit sexual situations and tend to just skim over them. I feel that in this Fantasy Fiction it is not needed, but so many authors are making this a main focus and spend way too much time on those scenes. I am probably a prude but I guess I'm just over it. What are your thoughts?

spirituality and Philosophy. I never grow tired of these topics and discussions. Also classic literature. These books take me to a different time and place and I love being able to create the scenery and atmosphere in my mind as I'm reading.

If a book has a dragon in it, I'm going to read it. So fantasy is my go-to genre. I'll pick up anything that has a dragon on it from the Dragonriders of Pern to Dragons love Tacos.

Recently I've been reading a lot of YAF, but as soon as either Winds of Winter has a release date or Diana Gabaldon has a new book out, I'll shift up to more of the adult fiction again. Although I have been looking more at nonfiction history books recently (Alix and Nicky; the War of the Roses; Churchill's Secret War).

It definitely depends on my mood. But I normally choose a thriller or a classic if I don't have anything lines up. I love a good thriller that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Best feeling in the world is when you put down a book and think "I cannot believe that just happened." But there is also something comforting about going back and revisiting the classics.

I enjoy the fantasy genre more than any other.

-- 06 Dec 2016, 22:59 --

I enjoy the fantasy genre more than any other. I've always been fascinated by the idea of elves, dwarves and trolls living in a different realm that actually includes the human race. I started reading Tolkien when I was a teenager and have since stocked my library with Robert Jordan, R.A Salvatore and Terry Brooks.

Honestly, I enjoy anything that captivates me or makes me feel like I'm incorporated in the story. The genres that commonly do this for me no matter what are fiction, mystery, and fantasy.

For me, the best go-to genre is science fiction. Science fiction is immersive. It oftentimes is set in the future or on distance planets and the amount of description and detail requires me to focus solely on the story when I read it. This provides a true escape from the world around me. It helps me escape. Fantasy can do this as well for many people however, even though I like fantasy, I prefer the possible realism of science fiction. The idea that the story may be possible in the future or on a planet far away makes it far more compelling. As much as I would like magic and unicorns to be possible, the fact that I know it's not makes it less interesting to me.

I would have to say that my go-to genre is romance. I really enjoy the historical romance novels with lots of juicy information that I didn't know wrapped up in a great love story!
