I can read any mystery book you give me. I also like speculative fiction.

Urban Fantasy with some action thrown in there, with maybe a parallel universe or two, and a light touch of romance. Doesn't matter how many different kinds of books I read I will always feel the need to read these kinds of books. :D

I like thrillers/mysteries. I love books that are set in NYC because I live there and the locations are real to me. I can picture the environment clearly, hear the sounds of NYC, etc.

My go-to genre is Horror. This genre doesn't really scare me, but past works like Dracula and modern works like Stephen King's "It" interest me because they make implications on ideals, stereotypes, and themes what many found horrifying during the era it was written in.

My go-to genre is either inspiration or christian fiction. When I need a new book to read I will generally go for a Karen Kingsbury book or whatever inspiration book looks interesting. I like these genres because they really do pull me into the story and keep me guessing about what is going to happen next. I like them because these books characters always have me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what is going to happen next or make me feel like I am apart of them and there story. I love being apart of the story I am reading and I love to be able to imagine myself in the shoes of the characters.

My go-to genre depends on my mood. For example, if I'm feeling lonely I will grab a romance novel; however, if I'm feeling adventurous, I'll grab a science fiction or fantasy novel. And, if I want to pull an all-nighter, I'll pick up some Stephen King because I had nightmares for weeks after reading about Pennywise.

Wow I didn't expect so many people to have Historical fiction as their go to genre! I've always been a lover of history and devour documentaries/tv series on all sorts of time periods. But in particular, I love the Plantagenet/Tudors era so naturally Philippa Gregory is one of my favourite go to authors. Plus, she regularly releases books so there's normally something new just around the corner!

Nonfiction has become my go-to genre recently. Before, I would have hands down had to say psychological thrillers were my favorite, but for some reason my reading has really shifted. I am interested in several things, which makes finding intriguing nonfiction relatively easy. There are also many sub-genres within nonfiction which keep it lively even after reading several in a row. There is something about reading about truth that can make a work so much more impactful to readers in my opinion. Sure, a fictional murder in a book can evoke emotion, but a true crime? Something entirely different.

I love suspense/thriller novels, especially if it's political. Don't care at all about dark novels or fantasy. I guess I'm too much of a realist.

Fantasy is a go to genre for me as well, and I find that no two fantasy books are alike, which is most likely the reason I continuously find myself reading them. The combinations of the unknown as well as action and thriller are very interesting to me, and I would most definitely choose fantasy.

I am a complete sucker for lovey dovey romance books but I need a twist like a supernatural romance or fantasy romance. I don't per say like those cheesy romance novels with the covers of men with rock star abs but one with an in depth story to it with substance that can keep my attention. I often turn to YA novels for this reason because the intricate plot lines really keep me turning pages for more!
