Apocalyptic recommendation

Post by Im2Adorkable4U »

Hello, lately I've been looking around for a great apocalyptic book to read but I'd like some recommendations to speed up the process. Zombie, war, robots, aliens I'm all for it!

Have you read The Road by Cormac McCarthy? It's about a man and his son walking and trying to survive during the apocalypse. I LOVED the way that it was written, I definitely recommend that! The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan was a YA spin, quick read, interesting idea and story line.

The Laundry Files series by Charles Stross could fit your interest. It isn't post-apocalyptic, but is rather leading up to the apocalypse. It's heavily inspired by the Cthulu mythos, with the main premise being that advanced mathematics and computing becomes magic, summoning demons and opening inter-dimensional portals.

Otherwise, though you've certainly heard of it, I Am Legend by Richard Matheson is not only classic, but probably the most brilliant zombie book I've ever heard of.

Not really my genre, but I do a lot of research on this to get books for my boyfriend
He loved these:
Swan song by Robert McCammon
The remaining series, by DJ Molles
Roadside picknick by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky

These are just a few. If you like them, let me know, I have A LOT of titles for you :)

I'm not sure if you're okay with romance included in it, but I highly recommend the Penryn and the End of Days series by Susan Ee. The first book is Angelfall. The main character Penryn is amazing and her love for her sister knows no bounds. It will seriously take you on an emotional roller coaster. And the romance just adds to the plot. What I loved about this was that the romance wasn't the only important thing in this book. The character growth we get to see of not only the main characters but the secondary characters adds to the magic and heartbreak of this series. And who doesn't like angels? You should definitely check this series out!
