When Katriona Warnock was four years old, her life was shattered. Her Aunt Lisa, who was her mother Samantha’s identical twin sister, was killed. The day of the funeral, Samantha was involved in an accident, due to an altercation with her brother-in-law, which claimed her life. This double tragedy left an incredible mark on Katriona. However, Katriona never did cry, even when she found out that her mother had " gone to heaven” with Auntie Lisa.

Nicholas, Katriona’s father, struggled with the loss of his wife and poured his soul into raising his daughter. As the years passed, Katriona grew to look more and more like her mother, except that her hair and her eyes were like her father’s. Nicholas became very possessive of her. It became an unhealthy obsession, although neither one of them realized it at the time.

When Katriona was 16 years old, her grandmother, Nana Anna, told her that she would inherit her business and her fortune. Anna Coleman was not a young woman, and she wanted to begin training Katriona for the job as soon as school was out that year. Katriona was blindsided; this was not what she wanted for her life at all. She wanted to go to Europe for a year with her best friend, Lily, then get an apartment and attend college.

When Katriona discusses her Nana’s proposal and the plans she has envisioned for herself with her father, it does not go well. He believes that his daughter wants to abandon him; that is too much for him and he suffers a mental break. He then decides to shut Katriona out of his life, concluding that she looks and reminds him too much of his deceased wife that he just could not handle it anymore. With no other options left, Katriona moves in with her Nana Anna and is robbed of being a normal teenager and instead learns the art of business.

Katriona is now in her twenties and is a successful businesswoman loved by her employees and desired by every man. But she does not see it. In fact, Katriona feels dead inside; she has no friends, no family and all she has in her life is her work. Abandoned by everyone she ever knew, Katriona cannot handle be close to anyone. That is, until Jason McCormick comes into her life. This man will not let her live a life without love, a life where she believes she has no heart and no soul. Jason is determined for her to see the love he has for her, and the love she is capable of, he is determined to get her to take a leap of faith.

Leap of faith is a contemporary romance by author Emma Coralan. The beginning of this book starts off with a few different character views to set the main story up to be told by the main character’s, Katriona's, point of view. Reading from her perspective allows the reader to be inside her head, to read and feel what Katriona feels about herself and the world around her. I enjoyed reading about the inner workings of a character with this mindset.

The book was not edited very well at all. There are numerous punctuation errors and spelling mistakes throughout the entire book. Although I understand this is written in British English, there are still so many mistakes that it was quite distracting. Also, there is no attention to detail, making it hard for the reader to picture the characters, and places in the mind's eye . For example, the reader is left to wonder what Katriona's house looks like when a lot of great scenarios unfold there.

Moreover, there is a lot of unnecessary and repetitive dialogue between the two main characters. It got to be so overbearing that I began predicting what the lines of the dialogue were going to be, and it also made me want to not finish reading the book.

I would recommend this book to those who enjoys romance; the overall plot of the story is good. The characters must overcome very real problems that exist in a person's everyday life and some that no one should ever have to endure.

Overall, I would give Leap of Faith a rating of 2 out of 4 stars. I give it this rating because the book does have a good plot, a bit of humor and realistic problems that can be related to. However, the book is not properly edited, the amount of repetitive and unnecessary dialogue was so distracting that it took away from the book and made it hard to continues reading and the lack of descriptive detail does not allow the reader to become fully immersed in the characters and the story that is being told.

Sounds like this book has some strong potential, if the author cleans it up and has better editing. Thank you for sticking with the book and giving a good honest review!
