What's your favorite poetry collection?

Post by mewsmash »

I've never been one for poetry collections. I prefer reading a variety of poetry by different authors, not a lot of poems by one person. Any collections you think I should try?

I'm in to Lang Leav right now but I'd love to read Maya Angelou and TS Elliot's collection.

Alicia Keys and Jill Scott both wrote poetry books. I know they are celebrities but they were both very well written.

I genuinely enjoyed Lang Leav's Love and Misadventure but I prefer to just read poetry in general and not in collections.

About two years ago, I really started getting into poetry, especially modern poetry. My favorite modern poet is definitely Robert M. Drake. I now own all of his collections. The most recent collection I have found is by Amanda Lovelace. I had not heard of her before, but I saw her collection sitting on a table and I could not walk away without it. It is called "The Princess Saves Herself in this One," and it is absolutely amazing.

I enjoyed reading 'Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair' by Pablo Neruda. It's just so beautiful when he writes...

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.
...
I no longer love her, that's certain, but how I loved her.
My voice tried to find the wind to touch her hearing.

I do not have a particular collection. I read any good poem from different poets across the globe.
