Do you collect books?

I buy most every book I read and I keep them.To me they are an accomplishment.

I loved doing that too!! I tried explaining that to my husband but he just doesn't get it. But I have to admit he was right when we started packing them up in order to move.... we had way too many!! So we gave a lot of them away.

My ex husband usually helps me when I move to a new place, and he's always dismayed to find out how many more books I've bought since the last move. I finally bought a condo, so he won't have to worry about that for a while. I pity the person who has to clean my place out after I die, though.

I collect the original version of the Winnie The Pooh and House at Pooh Corner series, even the pop-up books

I also like collecting really old books (so far I only have an Alice In Wonderland and Through The Looking glass which has the note: From Grandma Brech Christmas 1899.)

My next project is to try and collect the different versions of The Little Prince.

Managed to collect all the Harry Potter books and have all the Jules Verne collection!

I dont collect books by choice, they just keep adding up. About the only collecters items I have is a set of first editions by O Henry and one called The War Book that was autographed by Colonel W. A. Bishop, he was a WW1 ace who who shot down over 100 German planes.

I collect one copy for book, I already collected 74 books and I hope in 40 years it will get big.

Thats the way I started, with one or two books when I was about your age. If I had every book I have ever bought it would be in the thousands. I have a little over 300 now. Before I moved I gave 8 boxes of books to the thrift store as I didnt have room for them. I would have liked to have kept them but I live in a small house and there is just barely room for me and my dogs.

My friend, I think that is amazing. In my opinion if a library of 20 books is made of really good books, people can have a thousand and cant keep to the quality! Quantity isnt quality. : )

The word 'accumulate' is more appropriate for me. Books enter the house via many sources and take up permanent residency. I try to borrow from the library because that way I do not get too attached to them!

my books are my kids .I use to clean them every day . I just cannot live without my books . It sounds so crazy

Like many of you, I keep whatever books I buy, though I admire those who can give them away. In general, I am not a hoarder. In my efforts to stay neat and tidy, I can throw things away with the coldest of hearts for the sake of organization. But when it comes to books and gifts from my kids, I just can't part with them. Luckily I like the look of books shelves as a home decorating element!
