I enjoy all types of genres. When it comes to Sci-Fi, I really like watching them instead of reading them. They tend to be very detailed with a great deal of story building. When you are reading it becomes very confusing and complex. I enjoy watching it much better, especially now with the incredible visuals in movies.

It completely depends.

I'm reading the Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang right now and I can't imagine a movie that has the ability to reach the depth of his stories. The movie Arrival was taken from this book and as wonderful as it was, it still didn't capture the depth of the storytelling in the book. Hence, for a series of stories like that, I want the book.

However, I remember watching The Matrix for the first time and having my mind completely blown. I don't think that a book could do that story justice without the visual counterpart. Its such a feast for the senses that I want the experience beyond my mind's eye.

:ugeek2: i prefer reading them since watching sci-fi you might meet a lot of over acted and miss the fun part of its originality..real fun is reading hence you don't miss a part or scene

I like watching it a lot of the time nowadays. The things they can do with special effects are incredible, but sometimes I find the story to be lacking if they focus too much on graphics.

Reading 100% - the suspense in your head is always more exciting than the suspense on the screen

I love them both. I love the imagination you can bring to sci-fi when you read it, you create how the characters look, and act, and speak in your head. For me, this can mean that something 'horrible' may he grossly exaggerated in my head compared to what is shown on film or TV. However, it also has the opposite effect, and I will be amazed at what film or TV have done to something I didn't imagine as well. I really do love them both, and I will not be able to choose. This is my favourite genre.

It depends. If the scene and details are incredibly well-done, then I would more than likely watch Sci-fi. However, if it has to do with the character's relationships, then I would rather read the book. Then of course, our minds are sometimes better to see for our private eyes, since everyone's version is different. But overall, I think I would prefer reading Sci-Fi. There are things I like to do in my head that I'd prefer not to see in real life.

I enjoy both. I Think it depends on the storyline though. Especially when the movie is adapted from a book or series.

I prefer reading it, because I remember and understand better when I read. Though, there have been some good depictions on film - Jurassic Park's dinosaur breeding operation springs to mind here.

I prefer reading sci-fi but that's probably because I prefer reading than watching tv mostly. In the book you get greater detail and in the movie they change way to much things and whilst in the book we could make descriptions a lot in movie we are restricted to what is humanly possible. :tiphat:

I like watching and Reading sci-fi, because sometime watching cant give you all the details words can about a scene. like the emotion and thought going thru a person mind. I like watching to because the story can be easier to follow and sometime my eye are tired and relaxing and watching is just easier before bed

Sci-fi is the only genre I prefer watching instead of reading. I'd sit with a huge fantasy novel for hours and simply enjoy myself, but even with a short Sci-fi novel, I'd struggle to pay attention. Weirdly though, most of my favorite movies and TV shows are Sci-fi, such as Doctor Who, the Marvel and DC movies, etc.
