It depends on the book. I prefer to watch some series, but I don't mind reading them either. For the most part, I watch. Especially Star Trek (any series or movie) or Star Wars (any movie).

Thats quite true.

I definitely watch, then read.I think screen editors sometimes tend to narrow our perspective of a story that's why I'd read the book after to get a wider perspective of the whole story.

I prefer reading Sci-Fi first, then watching it. For me, it's more interesting to imagine the visual effects before watching the movie or series. That was the case with 11-22-63 by Stephen King.

watching is much better than reading because you get to see what the author wants you to see unlike when you read, the images you make up in your head might be off base

Both have their good and bad points....i think Star Wars and Star Trek hit the mark visually way more than the books ever did. But books like Ender's Game are far better left out of theater.

All of the sci-fi movies/TV shows I've watched have been pretty enjoyable, but as a general rule I prefer reading to watching TV. When I was little, the suspense in movies always made me anxious whereas in a book I could skim over the anxious parts, and while TV doesn't really make me anxious today, I still love reading much more.

This is a hard question! But of course, in my opinion, or i think of the majority, it's really much much better reading a book. But when i've read Ender's Game my head just couldn't imagine the whole thing! Haha. So i prefer reading THEN watching sci-fi THEN read it again. ;)

Reading is engaging and interactive.
Imagination turns a book into a movie. Grammar and semantics have their own beauty. I prefer to read, spare me a Sci-Fi for a lazy day.

I prefer watching sci-fi because I love the CGI and other special effects, when done well. However, when an author excels at worldbuilding, reading sci-fi can be even more thrilling.

With watching sci-fi I sometimes have to repeat the movie because I find that I have missed certain details, but with reading I can savour each moment, live through the agonizing suspense. So I prefer reading it!

I prefer watching sci-fi. That is if it's done tactfully. I feel most all good sci-fi books have already hit the shelves and the genre is flailing. In the movies, CGI is taking us anywhere our minds can travel!

Id prefer watching because its like your brain is more focus to understand than reading which sometimes theres a destruction of your mind while reading. When you read your thinking ahead what to happen while watching is continues and it seems you dont want to be disturb and you cannot hear anyone because of focus and sounds.

This is a hard one. There are appeals to both in truth.

For one, watching Sci-Fi shows you the visual representation of the tech, of the creatures/aliens, of space itself.

However, reading gives a much more detail orientated approach to the genre with things being done in written text which cannot be done through visual media.

So, I'd have to say reading takes it, but it's close.
