Rebirth Of Stephen King-esque Horor / Suspense?

I've become attached to a new author whose books I stumbled on through a press release about banning one of his novels.

His name is a mouthfull (Brandon Messerschmidt. Maybe a pen name is in order?), but I felt like I should share my find so that others can discover him. I've read both of the eBooks he has out, Unholy Advent and Said To Contain. They might not be as neatly polished as a professionally edited piece, but the stories are riveting and second to none that I've read lately.

His facebook page linked a new press release about some readers calling him "Stephen King for the 21st century." I, for one, couldn't agree more. The stuff in the article is pretty interesting, as he says that he feels the sci-fi/horror/suspense genres haven't been given enough of the spotlight lately. Apparently agents he's tried to hook up with have liked his work but said that there's just not as much of a market for those sorts of books as there was before 9/11.

I miss the sorts of things that guys like King used to write about too, so I'm right there with him. If that is your cup of tea, you should check him out. I'll try to post a link, but if it doesn't let me you can just google Brandon Messerschmidt or find him on facebook.

I find it very unfortunate that publishers are manged by idiots who believe you always have to follow the trends.(thanks alot Twilight, ruining literature since 2005) I am genuinley concerned for when it is time to publish my novel, for I'm not sure what publisher will accept it. And, I absolutely hate e-books, so I defnitiely would not take that route.
