Yes, I think you have a point. If the writers misinterpret those places, we may never know. That's I think writers should take their time in doing their basic research and all.

Yes. I like reading books of places i have never been to because it gives me pleasure and allows me create pictures in my mind. I imagine how those places look and it is somehow enlightening; it gives ideas and perspective on places I have not visited and may not visit. And above all, it helps to increase my imaginative abilities and I find it educative. It is basically like travelling while on a spot :)

Many people say: "to travel the world, one only has to open a book." This is true, novels can show us a whole new world and help us experience places we have never been. While that is all good, I feel more connected to a story if I have been to the place it is talking about. It feels more real to me that way. I do enjoy books about lands foreign to me, but I feel that it is just not the same as knowing what the author or narrorator is seeing and experienceing.

A book will take you to all kind of places whether you want it or not, simply because it is the author intend. A good book not only is fill with interesting full dimensional characters, it also requires the description of elements/places where the story develops, not to make it boring but to allow the readers to paint in their minds the story to be told. Quoting the great Dr. Seuss "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go". So yeah, Who wouldn't want to travel around the world or make a trip to take an afternoon tea to the other side of the world with a queen?

Reading means discovering the whole world while sitting at home or a favorite place. :techie-studyingbrown: Most of the time I read to learn about new places and cultures.Sometimes we may read a fictional book but it will also be interesting. It could reveal stories from real world in a more interesting way. However, reading about new places that you've never been at gives you a glimpse of it. People don't like to go to a place and be surprised when they discover that it is not what the thought would be like. On the other hand , you may not be able to even go to that place or you don't like traveling so you'd like to read it and imagine it as the way you wish it. Simply, reading about a place that you have never been at is more modern and beneficial than just going clueless.

I am currently reading the book, and I like description of different cities there. I've always wanted to visit Morocco. Sometimes, I don't like reading about any place I haven't been into, but usually, I like that. I think it adds to the book and gives us background about the described places.

That is one of the greatest joys of reading--going to places you've never been. For me, that includes new worlds in sci-fi/fantasy, as well as places I haven't been to yet. I particularly like stories set in Egypt; bonus points if it's Ancient Egypt.

I loved reading books about places that I've never been to before. I loved how a book can take you to places with the writer's ability to effectively describe a place. Books are a great way to escape and travel the world without leaving your couch.

For me it depends on the type if novel I'm reading. A fiction novel won't necessarily give u an accurate description of the place you are reading about, as it is just that; fiction. Some things would be glorified to suit the theme of the book, other things may be minimized. But a non fiction novel usually tells the story without much bias, ezcept of course the author's, and therefore may paint a more accurate picture of what should be expected. But some non fiction novels aren't very descriptive... so for me, it doesn't transport me to a new universe, because i know there are biases.
Between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be...

Reading about new places gives me a sense of being 'well traveled'. It is also interesting because it helps me learn about new cultures.
