reading a novel or watching its movie?

Post by Ana Njeri »

Between reading a novel and watching a movie of the same novel which would you prefer?

Personally, I think movies underrate the novels that were used to make them. Take for instance the novel the fault in our stars, by John Green. The kind of emotion the novel evokes when you read it and the type you get when you watch it's movie, is different. The movie does a poor job of conveying the intense emotions of the characters. Unlike when you read it, you can barely put it down. And when reading, it has a powerful emotional pull on you compared to when you watch the movie.

So what do you think, do movies do a great job of portraying the novels that were used to make them? Or do movies underrate great novels used to make them.
Think back to novels like the secret circle by L.J Smith, the magicians by lev Grossman. The fault in our stars by John Green. Me before you by Jojo Moyes, paper towns by John Green, girl boss by Sophia Amoruso and finally game of thrones by George. r.r.Martin
