The beach is awesome too thoughElvis Akpabli wrote:Never been on the sea myself. The closest I have been gone is the beach. I have a lot of respect for the sea though.

I also agree that people need to take better care of the sea.leandrarose wrote:I love the sea! I spent a lot of my childhood near the ocean, and I've always found it fascinating. If anything, I feel it's a shame that we don't treat the sea with more care and respect.

The worst sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach comes from swimming underwater, looking into the darkness in front of me, and not knowing what is out there.

I'm scared of the idea that we will never know what lurks underneath.

I'm so sorry that happened to you!Alicnim wrote:My home town is by the Indian ocean. I almost drowned there when some local kids dared me to swim. I've never enjoyed it since.
When I was younger, I kept getting pulled by the strong current until I finally relaxed enough to safely exit the water. Even though I knew the more I panicked the worse it would become, it took me a while to calm down.
So, while I don't know exactly how you feel, I can relate on a small level.
I still love the ocean. Going to the beach is one of my favorite things to do. I just tend to be far more careful now, and less likely to go much further than waist deep water. I also watch my kids very closely, and make sure the little ones are always with an adult.
