I used to love to watch the whales off the coast of California. They seem so graceful even in their amazingly huge bodies, and I am fascinated by their communication.

My favorite see creature would have to be a sea turtle. In the past I never really thought one way or another about turtles, but my dad got nicknamed Papa Turtle by one of his grandchildren. He died about ten years ago and every since I have loved any kind of turtle, but especially the sea turtle because it makes me think of him not dealing with the struggles that one made him slow.

From a reading and movie perspective, there is only 1 winner - shark.

My kids have been watching Octonauts a lot lately. The show introduces all kinds of crazy creatures. This morning it was the blobdish--they just sit there and wait for food to float into their mouths. Could do worse than that, I suppose.

I actually have two. The first would be a dolphin. I have always thought they were beautiful and graceful in the water. They are very smart as well. The second would be the seahorse. They are just amazing to watch as the move around and even as they are stationary on an object.

I've always loved orcas. Such beautiful coloring and grace. Lately, though, I've become fond of sea turtles. I'm fascinated by watching the newly hatched sea turtles race to the water and rooting for them as they dodge seabirds and other waiting predators. Oh, did I mention seahorses? They're more like tiny dragons than horses. Maybe that's why I like them. :)
