The sword swallower seems to swallow also too much alcohol, and so with the Chico Kid. I am quite averse to alcoholism, but if the dialogues herein are humorous enough and interesting, then that could be the redeeming factor. I gather this story is character-driven or sort of biographical. Thanks for your informative review. I will just see sometime if chance favors my reading of this book.

Books about alcoholism and drugs are not for me. However, I am sure others like reading about such serious topics. Thanks for the review.

The development of the characters sound interesting despite how they met. Drugs and alcoholism plus nudity are just "sprinkles over a chocolate sunday" but then it depends on the readers interests. Looking forward to it!

Alcohol has never been a remedy to the problem; it only causes problems and intensifies them. It is good that Gary and Duke finally meet in the third part of the story and can support and help each other. A person who has experienced the same problems and overcame them understands them much better and can assist in solving the said problems.

Sans the few errors, this book sounds like a thriller. I'm grabbing a copy!

I was drawn to the strongly written characters. Although they have vices and I generally don't like reading about drugs and alcoholism, I found myself drawn into the story because of the characters, the very interesting setting of sword eating and the circus and the flow of the narration.

Two different men with the penchant for drinking too much sounds interesting to a degree. I am tempted to read it to see if they work out their problems together. Because of the nudity I will pass though.

Lovely review, makes me want to pick it up and read. It is quite important that a reader is able to 'root' for a character, means they can relate, making the book more than a page with letters, but an experience

The book seems to be quite interesting indeed, I'm very intrigued by the sectioning of it and how the characters end up meeting in the end. I'll definitely add this to my reading shelf.
