The character of Adam makes me shy away from the reading the rest of the book. His nihilistic attitude, lust for his mother, and psychotic behavior are all turn offs for me. Also, with the language and violence I think the book should not be labeled YA.

YA with a superhero touch? Russian ancestry? Sounds like an interesting mix. Thank you for the good review!

Thanks for your review. I sampled the book and I'm a bit disturbed by Adam's thoughts regarding his mother. Hoping things change, or I might be putting this down.

That's interesting that the scientists are the enemy in this - makes a refreshing change from the good/bad conflict that often pops up in fantasy books. This sounds very colourful with the mutations and Russian families.

it reminds me of x-men indeed and though the part about Adam's feelings for her mother is kind of disturbing, i'm still willing to give it a try just for this positive review. good job!

I didn't use to read YA books but I've now found that you can find some right gems in this genre. Sounds like you found one here. Looks like a really good read. Thanks for the review :)

I really like when an author can balance a young psychopaths development into a balanced human(?) being. (with supernatural abilities...;) )

I'm not a big fan of science fiction. However, I love a good page-turner with a plot twist. Good review. Thanks!

This book sounds pretty interesting. I like the idea of the protagonist having a superpower/mutation. This is something that definitely appeals to me. I haven't read a book from the YA section in awhile but this one could be one I look into.

I don't read a ton of fiction, but this actually sounds like it could be pretty great if it balances romance, cool superpowers, and a dash of reality in the way you're describing. It seems like people who write really well in the YA genre are usually the ones who have stayed in touch with how big things can feel, and it sounds like this author does that.

I usually really enjoy young adult sci fi books that are futuristic. The often times seem to be more interesting than ones written for adults. This one sounds like it has good character development with few errors so I am in!

It sounds like this book is right up your alley for interest in this genre. According to your review, the author did a great job on laying out the storyline. To rate it up there with X-Men is saying a lot! Good news too in that no errors were found in the writing to take away from the storyline that you found so engaging. Thank you for this revealing without spoiling review.

I really enjoy YA fiction and this one certainly sounds like a great storyline with similarities to x-men and Divergent that would appeal to a lot of people. Thanks for the review.

An absolute interesting read for adults and young readers alike; But, I'm not quite certain! And, although, "rumored to be joining the coveted MARVEL COMICS franchise", as well as peaked my interest with its well-written content, etc., I believe, I may be absorbed enough to read "Opaque: Scion Saga Book 1" far beyond the free sample chapters. In addition, I'm, for once grateful for the spoilers within this review to assist with my decision and hope to rate it 4/4 stars. Best wishes to the author on the #BOTD 👀
