Official Review: Second Chances...in Montana by E.D. Massey

Sometimes when everything seems so bleak, dark and cloudy, we just feel like giving up on it all and running away. Other times we may even shut the rest of the world out while we wallow in pain and self-pity. Then unexpectedly, we are blessed by a beautiful silver lining, a rainbow of hope at the end of a downpour of sorrow, and life offers us a second chance.
Second Chances...in Montana is a tale of love, hope and of course, romance. Trying to run away from unhappy circumstances he could do nothing to change, Austin gets involved in an accident that leaves his beloved car badly damaged and gets him stuck in Lewistown, a small town in Montana. There, he meets beautiful MaryAnn and her young daughter Jessie who takes a quick liking to him. Austin’s presence in the community has a positive influence on many people, creating second chances at happiness for both young and old, amongst them Slim, an ex-marine and Jeremy, an abandoned teenager. In time, MaryAnn falls in love with Austin, who still has plans to continue his journey up north once his car gets fixed. In the present circumstances he has to make a weighty decision: to stay or to leave.
E.D. Massey deserves some accolades for this beautiful story highlighting the power of love and second chances. Most lovers of romance novels will agree that happily ever afters are so refreshing. This book definitely has quite a number of happy endings to go round. Love, chivalry and a self-sacrificing spirit always helps to build great relationships with others, as repeatedly exemplified in this book. The importance of sharing and talking about painful, depressing issues is demonstrated by several characters in the book. Books that subtly weave important lessons into the stories they tell always win my heart.
I love the way this story flows; at no point is the reader left feeling like something is missing. The author also gives just the right amount of detail to ensure the reader is able to both understand and enjoy the story. The sex scenes feel more like sweet love-making than obscene language, and I really appreciate the writer’s ability to achieve that.
This book has earned a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I found a few errors that may need to be looked into. Overall, I had an absolutely splendid time reading this novel and would willingly recommend it to everyone who enjoys a good love story.

Your review was very flattering to the book, and I wondered if I missed something that resulted in the rating it received.

I think a lot of men love their rides, but try not to show it much these days. I know of one who cleans his car more than he cleans himself.

In as much as this is a sweet story that I would have loved to give all four stars to, some scenes were quite unrealistic and a few conversations somewhat disjointed. They were not serious enough to warrant a mention though, but coupled with the minor errors I decided to give 3 stars.Kendra M Parker wrote: ↑24 May 2018, 07:00 What made you decide to give the book a 3-star rating? Was it the errors, or was there something else about it that caused it to not receive that last star?
