I guess I just crave those quotes in books that really sum up a feeling you have about life or a situation.

Like many others have said, reading is an escape from real life. I do the majority of my reading before bed. I open a book and all thoughts and stress from the day melt away. Family issues, problems at work, finances... I forget about it all and enter a different world. By the time I close the book and go to bed, I'm pondering what I read as I slip into dreamland.

Sometimes I dream about the books I read. It's a very strange combination if I play video games before I lay down with my book. I've never read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies but I've had similar dreams.... :P

Compare to watching a movie, reading book unleash our own creativity. Reading a book is in itself an exercise to sharpen your creative thinking skills, while you broaden your horizons. That is why I love reading.

Like Scott I like the sense of history you get when holding and reading a book. You literally feel like you are in 17th century France or Japan. in a way it is almost like going on a time traveling vacation. The author takes you on a fantastic journey through your own mind to show you a part of the world you have never seen before.

It is also a great way to expand your mind, your intelligence and your vocabulary.

Eh? Why do I read?

Well, I don't exactly know. Reading is just a really good-feeling pleasure and happiness. Whether the story is sad or not.

Besides, sometimes I think some people are proud what they read.

I usually take it like this
"I pick a book off the library shelf. Scan the blurb. Interesting enough. Totally addicted. Finished, lovely ending/want to read next book. Return. Finished. I've conquered yet another book."

That's what usually I think. The imagination runs wild. No one blames you, (sorry parents) no parents to scream 'do your chores!' It's also nice to see something from another perspective.

A book is a door to another world, beyond your wildest dreams,
Ail.

Ever since I wrote my own book, I keep telling people that escaping through alcohol, reading, movies or anything else is not the solution - we should make the real world worth a while instead.

I read to keep my motivation up and do something more productive than sit in a pub.

I [s]like[/s] love it for a lot of reasons :D.

I like the fact that I can imagine all that's happening in the book, instead of watching it as one does in movies. It's all set up there, on the screen. But on books, you get to make your own set, just following one rule.
I also like reading because it's an escape for me, going into another world that isn't real [most of the time], and you feel like you're there and not where you're supposed to be LOL although it suckssss to go back to reality, I hate it so much :/ but oh well.
And... I just kinda lost my wing there hahaha, I guess I'll come back and edit this ._.

I like reading because it gives me new ideas, new philosophies, new perspectives. Maybe I don't agree with everything the author writes but even in disagreeing, I learn something about me, other people or the world around me.
