Not usually a big fan of self-help books, but I definitely thought Difficult Conversations to be an interesting and worthwhile read.

The only self help book I have read that I may have liked as a teenager was one of the Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul books. Haven't read another since though.

Probably Algebra for Dummies. I know the dummy series but it did help me understand Algebra better and I passed. :D

The strong willed child by James Dobson. My kids are very independent and have good stong heads on their shoulders and I thought this book did a good job of giving me some new ideas on how to handle behavior that needed shaping.

i recently read "the power of habit" and it was pretty cool just recognizing how behavior can be changed (theoretically, i still am hesitant about psychology as a science". and i am currently reading "how we decide" which is along the same lines of the power of habit. I think anything that can bring any kind of value to your life, spiritually emotionally by way of science is worth a read and authors these days try so hard to keep you entertained while writing these books.

I didn't enjoy reading self-help books until last year, during which time I stumbled across several. Self-help books are practical guides into narrow areas that help you to improve your own life without having to do a ton of research or legwork. True, some books are difficult to read, a little pompous, and slanted in their views. That said, someone has taken the trouble to research one area and by reading it (I imagine some of us hear are voracious readers and can get through a lot material in a very short period of time), you have learned about as much as what you might get out of a lecture, documentary film, or an extended coffee shop conversation with said expert. Several favorite self-help books are below:

- The Early to Rise Experience: Learn to Rise Early in 30 Days (Andy Traub)
- The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness (Dave Ramsey)
- Winning by Losing: Drop the Weight, Change Your Life (Jillian Michaels)

Hope this helps. Happy reading!

My favorite self help book is The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. A lot of people don't believe in it, but I loved it and try to live by what it taught me. I re-read it every chance I get.

Either Crazy Love by Francis Chan or Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. Both have had a big impact of my views and why I believe them.

The Power of Now by Echart Tolle. Difficult to understand sometimes, but very very good book.
