This is a very good review that speaks to the heart of the fighting spirit, it would be imperative to find out what happens, if you are a sucker for happy endings. :D

All my love goes to Allison and Dee in this book. They did not deserve a parents like that, nobody does. The sisters kept life going on despite all that had happened.

Such an interesting read from the well written review. I just hope Allison came out strong. Though we're faced with certain challenges, we shouldn't act so vulnerable so that the situation won't be worse. Congrats to the botd.

Searching for love can be a difficult process, especially when parental love was lacking. I am glad that Allison was able to make some positive connections, with the church, that were bridged with love and relationship growth.

Allison Honh Merrill sounds like quite an interesting person. I am curious to see how she survived in America after her husband made away with her belongings. I am also curious about how tje church helped her. Congratulations on BOTD.

Lately I've found myself reading more memoirs and liking them more than I would have earlier on. This is one of those reasons why. Allison's story is touching and profound. It's a shame that people can have children and mistreat them as though they asked to be born. I applaud Allison for her strength and determination. Great review.

Allison Hong Merrill is a Taiwanese girl who grew up never knowing what fatherly love or motherly care was all about. At a very young age, Allison started to look after herself and her young sister.
I was really moved by this book.

I've already been allured by the title and cover of the book. The book seems to be an emotional book. Thanks and great job on the review.

Such a compelling story about a woman who has experienced traumatic after traumatic moments in her life, but is still alive to tell it today. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

I guess it would always teach youths how to become good fathers and caring mothers in the nearest future. The ability to maintain steadiness amidst challenges is a virtue. I look forward to reading this book. Congratulations on BOTD.

Just started reading this memoir! At the beginning i was not sure it could ever be a book for me, but after a few pages I changed my mind! It made me realize how tough can life be sometimes and how unexpected big life changes can be. It reminds me of some of my experiences...maybe that's the reason I like it.

Allison really had it tough growing up. I know what it means to have a loving father and mother growing up and how it helped. I may not understand the flip side of this coin, but I guess it's really hard.
