Is it worth getting a ebook reader?

If you travel and want more than two books along with you, you might want to consider an ereader.

i personally don't see the point in getting a ereader. If you have any sort of smart phone now you can get the app for the kindle, nook, or ibook. So in turn you really don't need to spend the 60-200 bucks and get an ereader. The only plus of some of them (the kindle mostly and nook) is that you have the paper white deal, that means no glare in the sun but i mostly read inside. Also i would definitely prefer a real book to another gadget.

No, most people think so but just listen to or read Ebooks with your smartphone or tablet.

i have a nook and then an ipad so I just get to download all of my favorite books at the click of a button. All of your books are stored in one place without worrying about losing a book. Also you dont have to worry about having a clutter of books everywhere. So therefore yes, its very important.

I think an e-reader is a must, it helps you store space. You dont have to run out in the middle of the night to buy a book. I have had my nook for a few years and its the best investment I have made.

I absolutely love my kindle. I take it everywhere I go even to go pick up the kids from school. Not only is it great for down time when I can just open my kindle and begin to read but when I have to go on long drives by myself I turn on the kindle and have it read to me. I have only found 2 books that wont let me do the talk to speech thing but I love it all the way around. I was really hesitant to buy one at first because like all book lovers I loved the thought of curling up with a good book and flipping through the pages....and the smell of a book is my favorite. However this is so much light than carrying a book around in my purse.

I have always loved the feel of a book in my hands, and I think that I have kept every book that I have ever read. As the son of a librarian, I bet there are several hundred books on the shelves at my house, if not more, since Mom never got rid of a book. Several years ago for Christmas, my wife got me a Kindle (not the touch model, but with the tabs on the sides), I didn't think I would like it, but I wound up loving it. Being able to get classic books for free was awesome. Since a major newspaper (for us, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution) is no longer distributed in our area, I was able to subscribe to the Kindle edition, and have greatly appreciated it.

This past Christmas my wife got my a Kindle Fire HD. It has been amazing. The only downside I would give to it is having other apps on it such as Facebook and my email can get distracting from actual reading. Being able to use it as a small tablet comes in very handy at times.

I would have to say that the Kindle has been a great addition to my reading, but I still can't stay out of the bookstore. I dropped $100 at the local Books-A-Million just last week.

Yes I agree with this in the sense I would not buy a specific e reader device, like a kindle - but I do read books on my ipad.
A phone is too small for me to read books on.

Definitely get one. It goes hand in hand with print books I feel...my time is extremely limited as are my funds. Buying most ebooks is a cheaper option. Storage is great. And one thing I haven't seen here is a mention of the Overdrive Media App for most e-readers. This is an app that gives you access to online library books. A lot of library systems use this: check around. You can choose ebooks, audiobooks, music or video. You have to have a library card, download the app and go from there. This has been a godsend for me. You can choose from 7 to 21 days for borrowing, place holds, rate titles, get samples....it's great. After the lending period, the book is no longer available. If you didn't finish, you just have to wait 3 days and check it out again....if no one has beat you to it. Sorry to be long winded. Love my e-reader.

i think it is, I love my e-reader, my kobo. It can hold tons and tons of books, and is the size of one paperback when it's in its case.

Personally I feel that purchasing an ereader was the best decision that I have ever made.
I have the Kobo mini and I take it everywhere I go.
It's convenient because you can store very large amounts of ebooks on it. It's easy to pick and choose your next read without carrying hard copies of all your choices with you. It also comes with built in dictionaries, and you can highlight and take notes on the go! Picking up an ereader is a great decision!

Yes! Yes! and Yes! I received my Nook Color a few years ago for Christmas and I still love it! I never thought I would be an e-reader type of person. I mean, who doesn't love going to the bookstore or library and just getting lost in the books?! My Nook was a complete surprise but it didn't take long before I was obsessed with it! I have been exposed to so many more books and authors because of my e-reader! I got an Ipad a few months ago and started reading books on it as well. But I ended up going back to my Nook because it was so much easier to purchase books from the Nook. So long story short, yes it is worth getting an e-reader!

I love my ereader for all the reasons mentioned above. I would like to add that I believe the best choice is the Kindle with 3G. With this added in you can browse and download from Amazon anytime anywhere, without any kind of wireless connection, for FREE. The few extra $ to purchase this version is worth for the savings over time and the convenience.
