Deceptive calm it's a really good book I don't usually go for books like these but with this one I just decided to just go with the flow and Wow the surprising thriller kept me hooked! A genre-defying story that blends romance, mystery, and historical fiction, it was a real treat to read. The vivid descriptions of Charleston, SC and San Francisco transported me to the past, showcasing the author's attention to detail. This tale of strong women navigating the civil rights movements of the late 1960s, the challenges of sexism, the complexities of romance, and the American Civil War is a love letter to history and the place Deceptive calm really is a good read. I recommend this book to anyone bored and looking to read something entertaining and yet informative this is the one 10/10

A Compelling Exploration of Identity and Resilience
Deceptive Calm is a captivating novel that delves into the complexities of identity, race, and the enduring power of the human spirit. Patricia Skipper masterfully weaves a tale of Vanessa, a woman who, in the face of adversity, takes control of her destiny.
Skipper's vivid storytelling brings Vanessa's journey to life, from her humble beginnings to her rise in high society. The author skillfully explores the challenges Vanessa faces as she navigates a world where her true identity is a closely guarded secret.
The novel's exploration of themes such as resilience, love, and the pursuit of happiness is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant. Skipper's characters are well-developed and relatable, drawing the reader into their lives and experiences.
While the narrative may occasionally veer into melodrama, the overall impact of Deceptive Calm is undeniable. It's a powerful reminder that even in the darkest of times, hope and the human spirit can prevail.

LOVED IT.

The book captures the readers attention. It has the essence of "Deceptive Calm". It's a great book from start to finish. It navigate through emotions and societal experiences. It is a historical fiction with romance and mystery. The author described Vennessa as a strong woman, very courageous and someone who is commited to her friendship.

The author also described Venessa who face rejection and was descriminated because of her skin colour which was mistaken because of her background. She was neither accepted by both races black.. and white. She was never accepted by all people because they thought she was white.
Vennessa ended up accepting her fate.. The author revealed strong personality for each character like Trish, Rosale and Tod which she thrived making friends with and ended up marrying. Tod. Vennesa overcame her challenges.

I wil rate this book 5/5 because its a good book. I recommend this book to all readers. Its a book worth exploring.

Hi @Nati Jiniya, I just read your comments on the official review of "Deceptive Calm" and I wonder if you have used the same comments on all 201 of your postings. You need to add detail about the story and do not post a generic reply. For example: “Deceptive Calm” by Patricia Skipper is a story about human’s need to be accepted. The sample was an incredible story about the Catholic School bus being attacked by the South Carolina Ku Klux Klan in 1968. The black students were placed in the center seats since they would be the targets of the brainless white supremacists that attacked the school bus with bricks and baseball bats. Trisha, a white girl sitting by a bus window was seriously injured by a brick and almost died from cranial trauma and loss of blood. She was operated on by a black neural surgeon in a black hospital and this doctor saved her life. Having lived through the riots and Klan attacks this story brought back many memories. Vanessa, a young lady at the orphanage that was never adopted was a very good friend of Trisha and she was a wonderful example of succeeding in a very poor environment. It is sad that white supremacy is still very strong in the U.S. and these people will never let the Civil War end. This is a wonderful book that should be enjoyed by all members. @Mrlefty0706
