Deceptive Calm is a captivating novel that delves into the complexities of identity, race, and the enduring power of the human spirit. Patricia Skipper masterfully weaves a tale of Vanessa, a woman who, in the face of adversity, takes control of her destiny.
Skipper's vivid storytelling brings Vanessa's journey to life, from her humble beginnings to her rise in high society. The author skillfully explores the challenges Vanessa faces as she navigates a world where her true identity is a closely guarded secret.
The novel's exploration of themes such as resilience, love, and the pursuit of happiness is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant. Skipper's characters are well-developed and relatable, drawing the reader into their lives and experiences.
While the narrative may occasionally veer into melodrama, the overall impact of Deceptive Calm is undeniable. It's a powerful reminder that even in the darkest of times, hope and the human spirit can prevail.
LOVED IT.

The author also described Venessa who face rejection and was descriminated because of her skin colour which was mistaken because of her background. She was neither accepted by both races black.. and white. She was never accepted by all people because they thought she was white.
Vennessa ended up accepting her fate.. The author revealed strong personality for each character like Trish, Rosale and Tod which she thrived making friends with and ended up marrying. Tod. Vennesa overcame her challenges.
I wil rate this book 5/5 because its a good book. I recommend this book to all readers. Its a book worth exploring.
