Is music of the past better than today?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

Not that much i guess, some of them are timeless, there must be something about the songs then...

I am a mix of both. I like 90s-early 2000s such as NSYNC and Shakira and lots more. But I like country music the most today. I love my coffee shop because it plays a mix of all genres of music from the past and most recent.

Absolutely, music of the past is nothing compared to today. They gives truee meaning to life, lessons and morals. Seems recent music are mainly for fun.

I believe that music of the past is more complicated than it is today in terms of the writing and structure, however, it doesn't necessarily make it better. The types of music can be perceived as better in the past due to the fact that pop songs were a new type of music and as a result, show more originality, but it doesn't always sonically make it better, and new sounds are regularly being developed and created in the modern day as well.

A yes for me. The music we had then had certain elements lacking in contemporary times.

No. They're both equally as good. Genius is eternal. People like Ed Sheeran, Micheal Jackson release equally good music. We just find it easily accessible today due to technology

Well, I was born in the 90's and mostly listened music from the 2000's and 2010's, but I think the 80's music are the best.

This is a subjective opinion. I listen to the same songs I enjoyed a while ago more than new music.

ABSOLUTELY!! I cant reiterate enough how meaningful old music is. I find music today so plastic, for a lack of a better term.

My music choice is still stuck in the albums that were released in 2010-11 and as a house music fan, anything from the 80s and 90s is instant gold. So yes, in my opinion old music is better than recent releases. I do think the reason we feel that way is mostly the emotional effect of the nostalgia we feel when listen to old music.
