I always have this problem. Not sure about a cure; I just don't bother reading in a car! An old school teacher of mine said sitting on a newspaper helps with travel sickness. Might be worth a try.

I have since I was a kid. I sit in the passenger seat when possible and look out an open window (fresh air plus seeing the landscape move to match the speed your body is feeling, both help immensely) when the reading makes me feel too sick to continue.

I can't read even a few lines while riding in a car, but that's a more recent development. I don't know where it came from. Maybe after I had kids; a lot of changes have happened since I starting having children :) I'd like to try the chewing gum technique that someone above mentioned. I'll let you guys know if it works!

I've read just about everything in a car, and never got sick. The only motion sickness I get is if I stare out the passenger window.

I wish I could read in the car, train, bus or train but I get terribly car sick and am incredibly jealous of those who can.

Not at all! That's why I specified passenger window. If I look out from the front, it's fine. The only problem would be if I'm in the back seat.

Very, Very Bad. I can't even follow the Garmin when I am in the car. If my eyes are not on the road for more than 30 seconds the nausea starts. It's very disappointing because being a passenger on a long road trip, I can't imagine a better time to read.

Yes, in a car, but when I used to ride a bus to work, I could read on that. I think it's because the bus was big enough that I didn't feel the movement so much?

I have acquired car sickness over the past few years. When I was younger I read Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix on a trip to Florida (a 20 hour trip) with no problem. Now I can't even read the summaries on the back cover without getting dizzy. :(

I dont ususally have a problem, I always feel calm, and peaceful, With my relatives they scream and sing terribly to the radio, So a book is a good escape for me.
