When Kayla’s ex-husband Craig cheated on her, she might have overreacted. What did she do? She tried to drown him while holding him at gunpoint. To make things worse, the police officer who arrested her was the hottest man she had ever seen. The timing was wrong though. After being cheated on and raising four kids by herself, Kayla feels like she does not have the time or the desire to begin a romantic relationship. Will her attraction to the police officer change this?

Marc thought that Kayla was a mess on the day that he had to arrest her. Feeling sad for her, he did what he thought would help. He had a word with the judge and made sure that Kayla did not go to jail. However, when he saw her again at a restaurant, he could not take his eyes off her. She looked stunning. Can Marc, who has only had short and casual flings till date, give Kayla what she deserves – a healthy and happy relationship?

I read romance books to relax and de-stress. Cuffed by You by Nikki Mays allowed me to do just that. The book was a quick read and was extremely lighthearted. I will admit that the plot was typical and predictable. I am sure that most readers would know the main plot and the ending of the book even before reading it. Despite this, I absolutely loved reading the book. The protagonists were likable, most scenes were hilarious and the ending was adorable. I read the entire book in one sitting and I was happy to have read it.

One issue that I had with the book, however, was the number of supporting characters that it had. The author tried to describe Kayla’s four children, all her friends, her mother, her mother-in-law, her brother-in-law, Marc’s sister and her husband, Marc’s parents and all Marc’s friends. I am sure that there are many other characters that I do not even recall at the moment. There were times when I gave up on trying to recall who the person mentioned was and simply carried on with the rest of the book.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. I read books because they make me feel good and this book did just that. After reading it, I felt relaxed and happy. I liked how it was lighthearted, hilarious and adorable. While I found some editing errors, they were minor and did not interrupt my flow of reading. I would have liked the book more if it had fewer supporting characters, but that is something that I can ignore in the overall context of the book. The book has some mature scenes and hence, I would recommend this book only to adults who are fans of the romance genre and are looking for a quick and lighthearted read.

It sounds like a great book if you enjoy the genre. I don't, so I will be skipping it, but I still enjoyed reading your review. Thanks.

This sounds like a light beach read, with a nice plot. I do enjoy romance books from time to time as they are usually a very easy read.

This sounds like a nice romance novel. I agree with you that not all the characters need to be developed - just the important ones. Thanks for a great review!

It's true. Too many characters can spoil a good plot. I love books that have happy endings. I really loved the cover of the book. Thank you for your honest review.
