Amazing. Tessa Dare has very creative ways to show true love at times where it seems there was none of it, or at the very least, legendary rare. And the plot is original, I'd say. This is installment three of Tessa Dare's

Castles Ever After

historical romance series.

Madeline Gracechurch at sixteen was to enter her first season and as a girl, not just scared but terrified of crowds, came up with a resolution for all her problems. She created a man, gave him a name, a position, a faraway location, and a promise of marriage one day that saved her from attending season after season in the search of a husband. With the addition of luck, years later, she's inherited a castle all of her own and lost the need for her 'perfect man'.

But a surprise, he existed. He was real. He was Captain Logan MacKenzie and he's come home from war, having read all the letters she wrote for pretense purposes and thought were stuck in some forgotten room. He's arrived to challenge all her lies and with an agenda of his own.

Now, after years of peace, illustrating insects and such for educational purposes, practically a spinster at her age, Maddie's life is suddenly a whirlwind of war-traumatized soldiers with "her beloved" at the lead. Logan, however, couldn't be luckier to find he has a way of acquiring land for himself and his men, and the women he only has to marry - whatever, right, it's just a ceremony - isn't bad on his eyes.

They're both stuck in place, though, neither wants to give in. Maddie's perfectly happy as a bug-loving, independent - a rarity for a female then - virgin and Logan's determined to take what he thinks is his to take. They're both too stubborn to reach the middle ground even after deciding on a truce. The fight's not over yet and will it ever be?

Tessa Dare sure can spin the old times a different beat and I love it.

I feel like this story could use a little more on explaining from a readers perspective. I enjoyed how the man Maddie created came to be a real person. The idea of including the war and traumatized soldiers made the story more ideal. Conclusively, this story is a really good, but i feel as if it could of been more detailed.
