Any good music to listen to while studying?

Post by reynolds1996 »

I'm studying for English and nothing seems to get me in the mood for serious studying, any suggestions?

Piano music always worked for me. I'm way beyond my school years, but I love music of all kinds. Piano music did the trick while studying. If it had lyrics, I started singing to myself and got distracted, but piano music didn't have that issue. George Winston, the classics from classical (Bach, Betthoven, etc), Ludovico Eunadi, Rick Wakeman...

I always had the hardest time concentrating while studying. Particularly in quiet spaces (can't study at the Library or at my house) so I would always go to a Coffee Shop or the Student Hall or somewhere were there was a great deal of noise going on.

I know it seems counter intuitive (silence should be better for studying right?) but for me it worked as white noise and allowed me to concentrate. While in quiet locations any little noise would distract me, someone whispering, a door opening/closing, a chair being moved and it would drive me nuts.

As for music I suggest music that you may enjoy but that don't have a catchy tune or lyrics (So no Taylor Swift). Classical music is usually very soothing (I recommend Vivaldi but that's just my preference - Especially the Double Cello Concerto) but still entertaining. However, if you want to listen to more contemporary music there are few YouTube artists who do contemporary music with instruments and they are great.

The Piano Guys - Technically it should be the Piano & Cello guy but they do all kinds of songs.
Lindsey Stirling - She does Theme songs and popular songs with a violin and other instruments
Two Cellos - They do Thunderstruck, Smooth Criminal, etc with two Cellos (it's great)

Good Luck with studying.

Anything by the Piano Guys. They're a YouTube group of musicians. They do cello and piano, as well as vocals and other sting instruments!

I feel like I am in the only person in the world who can't listen to music while doing other things. If there are multiple sounds going on in the room, I can't do anything properly.
