Weight loss and exercise support and congrats...

Post by zeldas_lullaby »

I couldn't find a thread that really involves just listing what you've done to be proud of for health. So use this post to brag! I.e., "I ate healthy all day," or, "I exercized," or, "I lost three pounds," or whatever.

I'll get started--I just bought enough healthy groceries to (hopefully) keep me off the serious junk food for at least a week! I hope to go wall climbing today and will post back if I do.

I have decided to stop worrying about healthy/unhealthy foods, that's my contribution to healthy living

Wall climbing sounds fun! I was in a wedding over the weekend so have been pretty good about watching what I've been eating the last couple weeks and lost 3-4 pounds. I am also absolutely addicted to ice cream but decided to really buckle down and cut back on my intake. I've been "off" ice cream for about a month now and really I don't even miss it!

To Fran: HA HA! It means the same here, except that it's a sport too! I just happened to read in the newspaper that there was a new wall-climbing center opening on the edge of my neighborhood and downtown. :-)

To Ashley-Claire: it is fun! And it's the only form of exercise that I enjoy enough to do (aside from just walking, but lately I need more calorie-burning, I can tell). However, I can only do it for 15 minutes before I am aerobically conked and need to go home. Great job losing 3-4 pounds! Keep reporting back! I bet you looked gorgeous in the wedding.

I've cut out extreme snacking and lots of soda drinking. I've increased water intake, and enjoy walking with a group. I'm losing weight to please me.

I started exercising with a weighted hula hoop. I am only doing 20 minutes a day but I am sore and can feel my abs burning.

There are two kinds of weighted hoops. The ones for dancing and the ones for cardio/strength training. walmart.com/ip/Gold-s-Gym-Weighted-Fitn ... p/28187555 That is the one I have. There are tons of video's online and workout ideas.

Thanks for the info! Stupid question: do you have to have the coordination to use a regular hula hoop, if you wish to use this one? If so...

If you use a regular hoop make sure it comes up to your hip when you put it on the floor besides you. Also I highly recommend getting one with water and not beads. I started with a kids hula hoop (I am 4'9) and it worked perfectly. I was able to run in place, stand on one foot, dance, walk around, and do squats. I got the weighted one to up the intensity.

I think my tired brain may have read your question wrong. You move your hips from side to side instead of around. There are also 4 different positions that you put your legs in. In the beginning the main focus is just keeping the hoop up. Then you can try tricks and fun stuff.

Wow, no worries, that's all inspirational. I may seriously consider taking up the hoop.
