Tablet Question

Post by fmpresas93 »

My husband just ordered a tablet for me. It's a RCA 7" Quad Core tablet. It was one of the cheaper ones from Wal-Mart. For the research that I've done on the tablet, it's an Android and it comes with a keyboard. Does anyone have this tablet? Is it good for ebooks? I know it has Google apps on it like an Android phone but is it worth having for now and upgrade in the future? Am I able to use the tablet to get ebooks from this site? Thank you in advance.

I'm not familiar with that particular tablet, but long story short I can't imagine it's not good for ebooks.

Ebooks are generally very small files, and ebook reader apps are fairly basic as well.

Tablets with less power might run into trouble with sophisticated games with nice graphics or with apps that entail a lot of rapid activity. When you are reading, you are basically looking at a simple static picture that changes frames at a very slow manual rate, unlike for instance a movie in which high-def frames change every split-second. And even a high-def movie is much less intensive for the device than a game in which the rapidly changing images have to be generated on the fly through interactions with user input (e.g. where you click on the screen).

I'm sure you would be able to use the tablet to read ebooks from the review team on this site.

My dad had that tablet. He really liked it and used it a lot. As long as you have the google play store you can download reading apps. If you are downloading them from external websites and transferring them to the tablet to read then I recommend the alreader app. Before I got my kindle fire hd that's what in used. It will read any book file type which is nice. You can also get the kindle app where you can purchase the books through amazon. The only problem my dad had with his is that the charging port went out after a couple.months of him having his. Hope this helps.

I have the RCA 11 Maven Pro purchased from Walmart as well. It's my first tablet with detachable Keyboard, I've had it about 3-months with no problems reading anything, I've used the kindle app as well as a variety of other options to read ebooks. As long as you keep all the apps up to date you should be fine.

The cheapest and goes with the keyboard? Hm... rather strange. Also, if the topic about Ebooks, I`d like to know if there any book which allows to surf the internet to download book or connects to the dropbox to download it?

So it gave out a few days after I got it. I'm just going to go ahead and get the kindle that I wanted.
