Choices, written by Delaine Christine, is the third novel in the Blackthorne Saga. This novel can be categorized as a Christian romance with a twist of the paranormal.

Ciara Biardon, also known as Inara Ravencroft, is blessed with a gift from God: the gift of knowing and of being a writer of stories. Ciara is shocked when she learns her stories are actually real. Through workings she cannot even begin to imagine, she and her kids are taken on a life-changing journey. Forced to leave everything behind, Ciara finds herself putting down roots in Montana among a very large, tight-knit family. The first few weeks staying in the house with them proves rather difficult because tensions are high and she has to prove why she is there, but she can only reveal things slowly. Recently widowed, Ciara must keep herself together as her family embarks on a very important journey surrounded by mystery and prophecy.

Reading this book was like a breath of fresh air. With its Christian basis, it is a very clean, tasteful book full of humorous moments. One thing I particularly enjoyed in this book was the lack of predictability. Unlike with most romances, we aren’t made fully aware of the romance until the end. Due to this, I had a hard time putting the book down once I started reading, and I kept catching myself smiling and laughing. The characters are well developed and are very relatable.

The only thing I didn’t like was the grammatical errors through the book. Particularly incorrect words being used. Unlike in the previous books, there were only a few of these, and they did not detract from the story.

I highly recommend reading the first two books prior to picking up a copy of Choices. I read the first two books before I started reading, and I am glad I did. I would have been very confused otherwise because the stories are all connected, with some of the characters and events mentioned in previous books.

I rate Choices by Delaine Christine 4 out of 4 stars. It is a tastefully written romance with a strong Christian foundation and a paranormal twist. While there were a few errors throughout the book, they did not truly detract from the story being told. The lack of predictability gave the ending an unexpectedness that made me feel excited and made me wonder for a moment why I didn’t see it coming. I would happily recommend this book. I also look forward to reading the rest of the books when they are released.

Thank you so much for the excellent review! And as to the typo, grammatical error, and wrong word issues, I was recently made aware of them by another party and am in the process of correcting them for future readers.

I enjoyed reading your thoughtful review! I admire you for taking the time to read the first two books in the series before starting this one. I usually just go back and read the previous books afterward if I like the one I am reading.

Normally I would wait and read them after as well but I am glad I didn't. I think the confusion it would have caused would have been frustrating, as well as make the book hard to follow. :) It took longer but was well worth it.

Me too! Today unpredictable romance novels seem hard to come by!

Thank you for a great review, TrishaAnn92! Like bookowlie said, it was pretty admirable that you read the first two book prior to reading this one. I also like how you mentioned that reading this book was like "a breath of fresh air". There are many books that I tend to read that are not quite so innocent, but it's good to know that these types of books are still being written!
Congratulations to the author for receiving such a positive review! :tiphat:

Thank you hsimone! There are lots of great tastefully written romances, but this one took the cake in not having any sexually explicit scenes. :)
