The first book is Lies of Lock Lamora. It's a three-book series.
You will meet thieves. con-artist, pirates, and lots of plot twists with great dark humour if you read the series. One of my favorite fantasy series.

There is also An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. It is inspired by ancient Rome, this book offers a vivid and immersive world with a gripping storyline its a great read!
