Have you ever used a bow and arrow, or anything similar?

Do you have any experience using a bow and arrow, or anything similar?

My high school gym class covered a lot of sports, including archery. I liked the challenge of it but oh the sore arm and shoulder!

I have not used a bow and arrow before. Although, I do wish that I could. My family goes to the Renaissance festival every year and they have an archery game. Maybe this year I will play it. I have cracked a whip before and thrown throwing stars.

I also had a six week archery course in high school. We learned how to aim and shoot. I enjoyed it very much. This past summer, I was able to watch my son-in-law practice at an archery range. Bows have really changed and are very high-tech now - not like the simple bow I used in high school! The range we went to also had plastic animals set up for the archers to aim at. Very interesting and very motivating!

Yes, I've used one at a theme park. It is a little difficult to get a hold of. But once you know the trick, then aiming is easier for a short distance. I have seen a lot of competitions where they aim from a long distance. It's amazing..

I wish my high school offered more options during gym class, such as archery. I'm not exactly sure why more wasn't offered, I don't think funds were as big an issue at that time.

I haven't either, and also wish I could. Maybe I can make that happen at some point! Throwing stars sound like a very interesting experience. I'm always impressed when I see it done in movies.

I wonder if plastic animals are more helpful than a bullseye, or just something that is more appealing to those that go to the range.
I'm hoping my son will be able to attend camp soon with the Cub Scouts. He's heard about being taught archery, as is really looking forward to it.

I didn't know it was something offered at theme parks! I've only ever seen things like the balloon popping game with darts. I'm not sure how good I'd be at long distances. I've got no depth perception, and I would think that would affect my long distance aiming.
