Copenhagen climate change summit

starting today, copenhagen was supposed to decide how long the earth will last. i dont have too much faith on it at the moment especially after looking at how the indian prime minister held talks with president obama and how all the nations have been lobbying to be allowed to poison the air.
i am not an expert in these things but do hold strong views about climate change. what do you think will be the outcome of the copenhagen sumit?
i think i will make big bucks by starting an air purifier manufacturing unit

I personally don't believe that the summit will help to solve the real problems. In fact I don't believe that they can solve anything. Sorry, but this is my opinion.

Well, don't get me going on climate change, there's so many issues we could all debate on. I'm something of a moderate, I think we need to be better stewards of our world, but I don't buy into all this doomsday hype that we're all going to cause our own extinction in a few centuries or whatever number they choose yesterday. And then there's the whole issue of that hacker leaking emails that suggest that the leading climate data analyzers falsified their data. (Not a direct quote, just the rough gist of the issue)

As for this conference... Yeah it won't do much. This article of EPIC FAIL made my day today.

The politicians can only give us words, its the scientists that will actually help us change the way we influence the climate. So why aren't they getting this money, I'd like to know.

I don't think that this summit is going to help much because of the countries are not ready any initiative and put a stone in the path of their development. Yes, but one thing is there the matter came into the knowledge of all general public which may help help take some action in the future. Atleast from somewhere it has to start and I feel its a good start.

The plenary session has been tied up over calls from developing nations for a much more ambitious target on limiting global warming.

hahaha i agree on the whole dont get me started. regardless of one's personal opinions on whether humanity is causing global warming, or whether its just the way the world works, we as a society are not treating the world as it should be treated...in fact the way we go about our everyday lives, for the most part is disgusting and wasteful.

i have heard so many people say that nations will go broke trying to make the way we and big corporations do things more environmentally friendly, but does that really matter in the big picture? is our society so greedy that we cannot look past our own pockets to see polar bears and frogs going extinct and our rainforests disappear...certainly no one on this planet can see these as good things?

but overall nothing will be accomplished at the summit because it isnt about what politicians promise, but what we as a race of human beings decide to do, individually.

How will the summit be helpful! None of the countries want to disturb their development at all. They don't want to think at this matter. Just the countries that may get effected ae shouting over the matter. Rest all just wnt to finsh it.

Every country just wants the best deal for themselves as they are terrified of stunting their economic growth.

Unfortunately there are far too many conflicts of interest for any progress to ever be made.

The countries with the best environmental track records are ones that have precious little business prowess or a voice on the world stage.
