Hello from Eriksoln

Post by Eriksoln »

Can't fill in my profile info till I have a few more posts.

I've been an on again/off again reader since my early teens. I'd start reading, find myself happy with it, get distracted and then stop for a while and then start again. Because of this, I am a little behind other people who have been avid readers their whole lives.

My fascination with reading started with comics to be honest. I graduated to books quickly though and was in love with "The Hobbit" and JR. Tolkein early on. I then spent a few years reading Dragon and Knight type fantasy (Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk etc). They held my interest for a long time, but didn't always present me with the literary skills/good story telling components I desired.

I then moved on to Stephen King books. For a long time, I rarely read much of anything except his novels. To this day, "IT" remains one of my all time favorite stories. I also love "The Stand" and think that "Hearts in Atlantis" does not get its due credit. Funny side note, my all time favorite movie, The Shawshank Redemption, is a S. King story.

I now am branching out, adding other authors to my "interested"' list. Actually, Koontz has replaced S. King as my all time fav. author. I love the "Odd Thomas" series. I plan on buying and reading the entire Harry Potter series shortly. I also enjoyed "Life of Pi".

I work full time as a nurse and can get stressed out from work from time to time. I'm finding reading is becoming the emotional escape I used to find in video games. I also enjoy going to baseball games, and have a dream of someday visiting every MLB stadium. I have been to a great many of them already.

Welcome .... we have some ardent Stephen King fans on this site as you will find out. I think your reading history is not too dissimilar to most of us here.
