The D'artagnan Romances

Post by jtothero »

I just finished The Three Musketeers and I want to continue the series. I've located the second book Twenty Years Later, but I can't seem to find the entire third book, The Vicomte de Bragelonne, for a reasonable price. It's split into three parts and the only part I can find is The Man in the Iron Mask, which is the third part.

Has anyone read these books? Why can I only find the The Man in the Iron Mask in bookstores? Does it stand alone from the rest of the third book in some way? Otherwise, can I skip the first two parts of The Vicomte de Bragelonne?

Oh, I gave up looking for The Vicomte de Bragelonne and Louise de la Valliere in bookstores and in the end just went for Amazon.

The Vicomte de Bragelonne:

Louise de la Valliere:

I hope you are able to get them from there. Good luck with that. As to whether you should read The Man in the Iron Mask and skip the first two, I wouldn't reccomend it at all because you'd be missing out a huge relevent chunk of the story. I'm not sure why they only sell The Man in the Iron Mask in bookstores, but it might have something to do with the movie. I don't believe they made movies of the other ones except The Three Musketeers, but I could be wrong.

By the way, if you haven't watched the movie of The Man in the Iron Mask, I can seriously say that I thought it was one of the worst movies I've ever watched :)

I've read The Three Musketeers -- very good read. I enjoyed it immensely... I once aspired to read The Man in the Iron Mask but never did -- was it good?
