Edgar Allan Poe Award Finalists

Post by Poltroon »

Not sure if there's already been a post on this, but the Mystery Writers of America just announced the finalists for their 2009 Edgar Allen Poe Awards.

Since I'm a teacher, I'm primarily interested in the 5 kids' novel finalists:

The Postcard by Tony Abbott (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers)
Enigma: A Magical Mystery by Graeme Base (Abrams Books for Young Readers)
Eleven by Patricia Reilly Giff (Random House Children's Books - Wendy Lamb Books)
The Witches of Dredmoore Hollow by Riford McKenzie (Marshall Cavendish Children's Books)
Cemetary Street by Brenda Seabrooke (Holiday House)

"The Witches of Dredmoore Hollow" by Riford McKenzie is best bet to win IMO because it actually reads like Poe for kids (with a little Harry Potter / Roald Dahl scrambled in).

The Mystery Writers of America have a list of all categories / finalists on their home website

The witches of Dredmoore hollow would be the best pick.
