TRANSLATION AND CULTURE DISSEMINATION---A Perfect Book

Post by glennfibber »

TRANSLATION AND CULTURE DISSEMINATION by Wei Yaochuan(Academic Press Corp). A Perfect Book! Wei’s gracefully written book offers a critical perspective from which to engage translators in examining other “culture dissemination” instead of “culture communication” prevailing nowadays in translating. The thought-provoking material has great value for the contribution toward culture diversity and also proves an extremely useful resource for anyone dedicated to translating.

The work mainly presents a discussion of the dissemination of culture, like Chinese, from a translation perspective. Translation, as it is, is far from changing words from one to another. In this book, the author, Mr. Wei Yaochuan, writes in accessible language and explores the essence of translation of samsara, subject, strategy, manipulation, audience, cases and reconstruction; each of them is so unique, insightful to read.
