Ever dreamed of owning a bookstore?

I am in the same situation. I have hundreds of books at home to the extent that bookshelves line the walls of my living room. In some ways (perhaps many ways) they have become a bit of a headache. But disposing of them is not an option. Instead, I opt for peaceful coexistence.

We are opening a comic book shop in which i'll be sneaking novels into once we are established a bit more.

They'd read your books without ever buying. And they'd spill coffee on the books, or bend the pages, so they could never be sold. And they'd make each coffee last for hours.

I love browsing book stores. But own one? Never!

It's been my dream to open up my own bookstore. Even if it was a used bookstore. And theres a storefront for rent on one of the mainstreets where I live right now. Every time I walk past it I think that would make a great bookstore. But I don't think I have enough capital to actually make that a reality.

Owning a bookstore would be grand but it would have to be a bookstore that caters to collectors with many old first editions and expensive leather bound goodies. I suppose I would also sell newer books. Attach a flower store and I think you have to of the most relaxed businesses ever.

Throw a coffee/cappucino area in the middle of all that and you are bang on the money! Seems to work for The Book Centre Waterford, anyway- coffee, a fountain and acres of books!

Ha no probs Fran, ill give you the guided tour, from the fountain and coffee/seating area on the ground floor right through to the sports/autobigraphy/classics section dotted all round the shop, its really class in that the more you explore it, the less you want to leave and all the topics are easy to find, they even do classy Leonidas chocolate, what more could you want.

Oh man, it looks fantastic. I am contemplating moving to your lovely country just so I can spend all my time in the store. Actually it is probably a good thing that I am not there because I can see myself spending every waking moment there and drinking about ten cups of coffee a day.

Own one? You've got to be kidding! Haven't you seen the TV series "Black Books" and the shenanigans Bernard & Co get up to? At least that little shop has bucketfuls of character compared to my city's new, clinical chain stores with their generic signage.

Damn, and I thought I'd be the first to mention Black Books

Anyhow, owing a book store should be a good business both in profitability and, you know, it's no organ selling and stuff (personally, I call it clean money).
