Nooooo, the only time I would skip pages is if the book isn't interesting and if it's for a school assignment. :D

I've noticed the same thing. People like telling stories, but they seem to have very little interest in the art and craft of real writing. Kinda sucks...

Skip pages? I may skip around a bit here or there, but I try not to. In my opinion, a great book won't let me skip pages. I want to read and hang on to every single word and detail.

I think the only time I've skipped pages is reading the Game of Thrones series. Sometimes the author goes into long winded descriptions of places or people that...are either completely irrelevant, or of no interest to me. :[

I usually don't skip pages when I read unless the chapter is dragging on, then I might skip a couple to get to the next chapter.

If I find myself skipping, then I usually put the book down and pick up another one. Sometimes it's just not the right book at the time.

If I'm skipping pages then the book isn't good enough. I find that in some books they start with a great idea and then quickly slide into predictability which means they've lost me. If I'm not invested in the characters or if I already know where they're going then I might flip through stuff. Although nowadays, I'll just return the book to the library or give it away instead of waste my precious reading time.

I always read every word. I'm not sure I see the point in reading a book if I don't actually read the whole thing. Just my personal opinion though. :)

Yes! I just finished a book by a surgeon and he went in depth describing different medical procedures and I skipped all of that because I just wanted to know about the characters and how the plot was going to evolve.

I know to quit reading a book when I skip pages. I do read fast and skip lines when a story gets intense. I usually like to read a book all the way through. I do zone out at times.

I don't do this. If I feel like I'm getting bored with the book, I usually just push through it. Most of the time it ends up being worth the read anyway.

I don't ever intend on skipping pages when I read. However, I have a habit of jumping sentences or paragraphs when I'm really excited about what's currently happening in the book. I'll usually force myself to go back and re-read.

In fiction, I do not. In non-fiction, I have if a section or chapter doesn't interest me.

Yes, I skip pages in books that have passages with long, flowery descriptions. Rather than help visualize the story the descriptions disrupt the flow of the story.
