What I do is I picture an actor/actress that looks or acts similar to the author's description, but then I tweak my mind's image of that actor a bit to make them unique and to add in more traits similar to the character.

No I don't think I do!! When I read (because I am an actress) I usually see myself as the main female character and I just create other characters in my mind for the other mains but its not usually actors, I don't think so anyway!

Actually, no I don't. Only time I do is when I see the movie first. Then I just cant seem to picture anyone else.

No, never. Actually, I think I had never imagined someone did.

Usually I imagine the characters as their own people; only occasionally do I find myself envisioning a certain actor as a character in a book. But if I see a movie before I read the book, then part of my brain always goes to keeping the cast in mind for the different characters, comparing them to any written descriptions and deciding whether I agree with the casting or not.

I don't usually picture actors or actresses as the characters in the books I'm reading...I usually develop a picture of them based on the descriptions of them by the author and their behavior in the story...kind of a cool idea though.

Sometimes, but usually against my will. Sometimes someone's face just pops in there and it's impossible to get it out.

Yes. Often times, i will look on YouTube to see if someone has created a video with their dream cast of a book. It helps me visualize better.

Not really, unless they have traits that exactly match that actor's personality.

Otherwise, I usually develop my own images of them, or sometimes as animated characters.

Absolutely--especially if there is no picture on the cover. I take the descriptions of the characters and match them with actors that I know. By the time I finish the book, I could have an actor picked out for each character and have my director's chair ready... :)

Absolutely! When my mom and I read the same book (which is a lot), we discuss who our characters are. Very rarely do we agree. What I don't like is when you get a picture in your head of who the character is before a description is given. Inevitably my head gets stuck on whoever I pictured first regardless.

I never picture actors in my head when I read. I think I would be more likely to do that if I were familiar with many actors, but as it is I have a tendency to just imagine the faces of the characters in my head (as they are described by the author).
