I buy all modern books new, but I absolutely LOVE old, worn hardback books from the 1900's. I not exactly sure what about them specifically I love, I just know that whenever I go to the antique store in town, the old books are the first thing I go to.
You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.

I know there are ethical issues on both sides, but given the difficulties publishers and authors have these days I try and buy new.

I like the feel of used books. I tend to grow an attachment to them, as if they are an orphan and I am their adoptive mother. I usually adopt books online, for a very reasonable price (generally a penny), and pay up to 375% more for the shipping than I do for the book itself! That's just how I roll!

I prefer used books. There's a sense of history when you are reading and you see a ketchup stain or a dog-earred page. This is why I spend so much time at my local library.

I read anything I can get my hands on, borrowed, used or bought . Does not matter to me in the least. But once I have fallen for an author I like to buy the originals and even better if I can have a signed copy. I recently gifted my grandaughter all signed Lynne Cherry's books. I always go out of my way to go to Author workshops or book signings and for that I buy brand new copies. And now my grandchildren all have signed copies of all of her works.

I prefer new books, but if someone gives me a used book, I certainly wouldn't turn it down.

Both. I love finding cheap books! It means more books for the price of that expansive new book!

I used to anxiously wait for new books, but I haven't bought a new one in years. I find them practically brand new at the Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Value City for little or nothing.

If it's a book I want on release day I will buy it new, but I love used books.

The only time I buy new books is if I have actually been waiting for a specific book to come out.

I usually look to see if a book is available at my library, otherwise I will buy it new if it's something I really want to read, or if it's for a book club. I love finding great deals at my library's used book sales.

I don't mind buying used books but I prefer new. Used books definitely have some history, but I like the feeling of opening a brand new one.

90% of my books are used. It is primarily due to the reason that only garage sale books are available in my locality. *Sigh. I really hope a real bookstore would be available in our place.

I enjoy reading new books because I feel that they're mine.
