Aliens and Humans is a captivating non-fiction book about the existence of aliens. The book takes the reader on a fascinating journey that tries to explain the issues that affect the likelihood of alien existence, such as the lifespan of stars compared to the sun. The book also discusses issues facing the discovery of aliens. For example, the nearly impossible speed and ridiculous amount of time required to travel between galaxies. All of which are backed by scientific calculations and evidence. Harry E. Keller pulls from different scientific fields, including astronomy, cosmology, physics, biology, and chemistry, among others, to explore and analyze the probability of different scenarios.

I liked that even though the book uses multiple scientific concepts, the theories are explained in a simple way. This allows the average reader with little to no scientific background to understand complicated arguments. I loved the format used, where hypothetical scenarios were stated first, then scientific logic and calculations were used to work out the possibility of the hypotheses. I also loved the historical context and illustrated explanations included. Another thing I liked is that not all the arguments presented had negative results.

Even so, as important as it was, I didn't like that the majority of the book was spent discounting arguments. This made it seem that all theories regarding aliens and, especially, space travel are impossible. Another thing I didn't like was how, while discounting concepts, even though calculations used are said to be largely estimated in some cases, the conclusions are presented like facts due to the tone used. While I am not a believer in the idea that aliens have already infiltrated Earth, the way the theory is so flippantly dismissed may alienate some readers. Which, again, is a result of the tone used. For these reasons, I rated the book 4 out of 5 stars despite it being grammatically flawless.
