Hands down J.K. Rowling. Sure in recent times, her Twitter comments have caused a controversy, but she is still talented. The way she has built a magical world that I can walk into during these unprecedented times is a life saver. I am a fan forever.

Since children's literature is a forte of mine, I have many children's authors that I like. My all-time favorite has been and still is Tomie DePaola. He is an incredibly talented storyteller as well as illustrator.

I have to agree with you about Tomie DePaola. I used to read his stories to all of my elementary school classes. When I started teaching English to children overseas, I found Eric Carle's books a wonderful tool, and fell in love with his writing and illustrating as well.

I read most of Walter Farley, Marguerite Henry, and Jim Kjelgaard's books - horse and dog books. Some of my other favorites were Bunnicula by Deborah and James Howe, The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden, From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg, and the Encyclopedia Brown books by Donald J. Sobol.

I don't know if Narnia's Chronicles count as a children saga, but I must say C.S. Lewis as bewitched me in body and soul, and I'm rather sad because I'm finishing the saga and I really don't want the magical world of Narnia to leave my mind and heart

Beatrix Potter is truly one of my favorites. I vividly remember the story of Peter Rabbit. It is one of my fondest childhood memories.
