Xander Scaletta was sixteen when his father, The Don, made him shoot his first man. He desperately did not want to do it and was shaking with dread. His father always said, “Always two in the head to make sure they’re dead.” So, there it was, Xander's first kill. His father wanted him to take over his legacy and be the boss of Lost Haven. Xander was a man now and had to learn how the operation was handled.

Twenty years later, as boss, Xander rules Lost Haven with an iron hand. No one in New York dares to cross his path until Dante Falcone decides he wants a bigger piece of the action. He starts sending out feelers into Lost Haven to see if there is a chance that he can slip into Xander’s territory unnoticed.

Meanwhile, Nora and her friend, Sedona, are headed to Xander’s club for a little fun and to confront Xander. Xander’s father was somehow involved in the murder of Sedona’s parents, and she wants to find out why they were murdered. Everyone is having a great time until the girls decide to go out on the terrace for some fresh air. Some of Xander’s men are out there and choose to have some fun with the girls. They grab the girls and try to take them somewhere where the excitement can begin. Just then, Xander steps out on the terrace with his loyal friend Rocco Moretti and a few others. He demands that they let the girls go, and the men are to be punished for their actions before being dragged away. When Xander comes face to face with Sedona, they lock eyes, and they feel a connection immediately. Xander offers the ladies the chance to sit at his table; whatever they want to drink or eat is theirs. Xander and Sedona are flirting with each other when shots are suddenly fired. What is happening? Does anyone get killed? Is it Dante and his men? You’ll have to pick up a copy of the book to find out.

I’m a sucker for a hot, steamy romance novel, even if it does involve the mob. My Mobster Baby Daddy: An Enemies to Lovers Romance (A New York Mafia Series) by Kyla Abbot hit the spot for me. The author’s writing was a little cheesy and predictable but fine. There was romance, violence, and murder, but it had a nice ending. Some of the dialogue was simple, but we’re talking mobsters here. They are all brawn and very little brain, except for Xander. This isn’t a novel for the younger generation, as there is a lot of profanity, sex, and violence. The editing of the book was excellent, as I did not find any errors of any kind. I liked everything about this book, so I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars. A book doesn’t have to be a classic; it just has to make you enjoy reading it.

Sounds like a wild mix of romance, danger, and mob drama—all wrapped up in a fast-paced, entertaining read. Sometimes, a little predictability just makes it more fun.

Great review! I am not a romance reader, but since there is a mob component I want to read this 5-star book. I am adding it to my bookshelves.

A potential reader may learn everything they need to know before picking up the book from this great review. This appears to be a typical romantic thriller. Dante is conspiring against Xander with his shared adversary, Sedona...? A light read every now and then is OK with me. Adding this to my reading list.

Sounds like a fast-paced, steamy read with all the classic mob drama; violence, power struggles, and forbidden romance. Sometimes, a little predictability makes for an enjoyable escape.

First time I saw this book, I was stuck on the title. I found it intriguing and knew I had to read it. You’re right, it was cheesy and a tad bit simpler than most books I’ve read, but at the time, that’s exactly what I was looking for.
Great review by the way!
