Destiny's Tyme is a romance novel, the first installment in the Unbound Me series. This book explores the heart-stopping, mind-bending connection that happens between two people deeply in love.

Destiny Jackson and Tymeah Jacobs, both influential black musicians in their own right, have been through more than their fair share of tragedies since they were kids. Destiny lost his parents and his aunt growing up. He also had to suffer through the pain of watching his girlfriend, Mia, blow her brains out. Tymeah was just four years old when her oldest sister, Brielle, set their home on fire, killing their foster parents in the process. Pain and grief were not new to either of them, and the last thing on their minds was the possibility of falling in love.

But when they met each other for the first time, the instant attraction and need for each other was undeniable, scary even. Destiny and Tymeah fell deeply in love with each other and opened up about their past. It didn't take long before a massive secret came to light that threatened the very foundation of their passion. Will their love overcome the impact of this new revelation, or would theirs end up as a love that wasn't meant to be?

Amariah Sakinah confidently stakes her claim as a premium writer with the compelling storytelling she showcased in this book. There were a lot of things I loved about this book. First, I loved that the first two chapters were dedicated to each of the two main characters. I couldn't have been more pleased to see that the rest of the chapters were written from Destiny's and Tymeah's perspectives in an alternating manner.

With this book, the author showed her mastery at weaving subplots into each other and revealing details about each of the characters in pleasantly unexpected ways. I especially loved how the build-up of the story led to the first meeting between Tymeah and Destiny; it was nothing short of spectacular.

The plot did seem to take a slight dip somewhere in the middle of the story. Thankfully, it didn't take much time to pick up the pace again and ride the story to a frenzied end. I could tell that Sakinah took her time developing the characters of Tymeah and Destiny. Everything from their mannerisms, language, back story, and their relationships with their respective family members was sufficient to understand each of them properly. The support characters were also not left out: they all seemed to feature in the right proportions.

I also liked how the author infused certain real-life songs and names from the music industry, like Billie Eilish, Chris Brown, Drake, and more. It helped to make the book more relatable. However, I should note at this point that given the setting and characterization in the book, there more than a few instances of descriptive erotic content and racial slurs. While erotic content is not my thing, the story was good enough for me to overlook this; however, it may make some readers uncomfortable.

The only problems I had with this book were its many grammatical issues, typographical errors, and formatting inconsistencies. There were too many misspelled and omitted words, and the dialogue continued to switch from regular font to italics without warning. These suggested that the book was not professionally edited.

In all, I enjoyed Destiny's Tyme very much. Unfortunately, the plethora of formatting, grammatical, and typographical errors mean that I can only give this book 3 out of 4 stars. I would recommend this book to people who love romance novels that incorporate the idea of soulmates.

I'm a fan of the alternating perspectives in a romance book, but I think this one might be a little dark for me (at least the characters' backgrounds seem dark). Maybe a bit too intense. Thank you for your honest review.

Thanks for the review. This book sounds like it needs a round of editing. I appreciate reading a story written from the character's perspective. I am not a big fan of racial slurring and erotic scenes. I think I will skip this one for now.

At first I thought the title 'Destiny's Tyme' literally means 'the time for destiny', even though I doubted because that wasn't the spelling for TIME. I read the review and realized it was the combination of the name of the characters, I commend the author's creativity. I am sure going to read this book, curious to find out the secret threatening their Love for each other.Great review.

The love between soulmates often attempts to bend the laws of physics and the normal parameters that govern us worldwide. But add in a dramatic touch of suicide and some disturbingly murderous arson, and you certainly have a book that tests the limits of tragedy and triumph. Great review!
