As for the overpopulation idea in the book, I believe that will eventually take care of itself, naturally. Whatever means that might take, I don't believe any human intervention will be necessary.

I found this to be marginally better than The Lost Symbol, but still disappointing compared to DVC and A&D. In particular, I thought he wasted the potential of the location(s) in the last section of the book [trying to avoid spoilers!]. He chose somewhere that's chock full of history and art, but rushed through it. Really, that locale would seem to suggest itself as a setting for another novel (here's hoping ...).

If Dan Brown wrote another book in this same theme or series, I would definitely read it. I have enjoyed them all.

I have heard nothing but great things about this book. I have yet to read it myself, however, I plan on reading it as my next book. Can't wait to read it myself.

I would like to know how many hours of Research he had to do to before he wrote this book. Its amazing how much work went in to it. I actually study Dante's Inferno in college and that's pretty tough to follow.

I really liked this book :D It has very interesting topic that makes you think long after you read the book. It is fast paced like his other books, you just can't put it down...

I Just finished Inferno and liked it. It gave me a new perspective on the way our world is growing. I did not think it was one of his best books but would recommend it to any Dan Brown book lover.

I do believe he uses a lot of fact in his books but yes some of it... I'm not sure witch parts... is fake. If it wasn't than he would be more famous than just a writer. :) But i do know that he works with Historians and other people and dose some research his self.

I was a little disappointed with The Lost Symbol from Dan Brown after reading Da Vinci Code, but I loved Inferno. The Crazy twist and mystery was superb. Loved It.

One of the things I didn't quite like about Inferno was the, in my opinion, overly high regard for academic intelligence. Dan Brown makes a clear link with Sienna's incredible IQ and the rest of her exceptional abilities (athleticism, acting ability, charisma, street smarts). It's almost as if a high IQ will somehow make you some kind of super human. These are all separate forms of intelligence that aren't measured with IQ.

Tell me if I'm reading too much into this. I just feel stuff like this adds to the reverence towards high IQ, which disregards many other forms of intelligence and doesn't measure much more than potential at that. If it helps my argument at all I have a measured IQ of 120 :|

Samuyama,

While I would agree that IQ and academic intelligence isn't everything in life, I would say that Dan Brown had to develop Sienna's character this way to make the plot believable. Sienna's high IQ lends itself to her development in all areas of her life, with the possible exception of her moral compass. Speaking in line with the book, if you are going to to have a storyline that includes destroying a huge portion of the Earths population through a single point of germ warfare, you are going to have use characters more intelligent that some redneck building pipe bombs in the shed behind his house, or some terrorist with a bomb in his underwear on a plane.

Just my thoughts, and I have no idea what my IQ is, I don't suppose the scale goes that low.

I have read all of Dan Brown's books, even Deception Point and Digital Fortress, and I thought Inferno was one of his best. I liked that he stepped away from the religious themes he's been focusing on in the last 3 books, and that the book does not really end on a totally happy note, Langdon doesn't really save the day after all.
On a personal note, I was very fortunate last year and, shortly after I finished reading Inferno, had to travel to Istanbul, where I was able to see those places he mentions in the book. Amazing!
To me this one is second only to Angels and Demons. I give it 4 stars

I thought the book was pretty decent. It got me thinking about things that I wouldn't normally think about, which I enjoy in a book. I have to say though that this isn't a book for really deep thinking, this is more a book that you read when you're looking for some action that makes you think a little bit. But that being said, I would definitely recommend this book to others, especially those who are already familiar with Dan Brown.

Overall I would give the book 3 stars.
