I think that is very important to consider the audience and how your profanity, violence, eroticism will impact what you're writing. As much as possible, I don't include these since I wanted to write for a wider variety of audiences.

Yeah, this is essentially what's on my mind. As long as us authors think that it is suitable for our audience, we have the creative license to write whatever we want.
