Sounds like a book my boys would like reading. Since we got two female litter mates a year and a half ago, they have been more interested in reading about dogs. And I'm sure they would say that Bear looks like our dogs, even though they are german shepherd mix (every dog looks like/acts like our dogs to them)! I'm putting this one on my "to read" list. Thanks for the review!

Thanks Eatsleaves and welcome to the forums! I read your comment too fast the first time around and thought you said your dogs have been interested in reading about dogs - ha ha ha.

Oops, hehehe! I can see how you read it that way! That was my grammatical mistake. That's funny.

Not your mistake at all! Sometimes I just read too fast. :) Also, maybe your dogs like to read. :techie-studyinggray: :techie-studyingbrown:

Sounds cute. I like stories about pets and this one seems enjoyable. Great job on the review.

Thanks Kimmyschemy! I also like stories about pets, especially dogs. This book is really a labor of love for the author's wonderful dog.

This sounds like it might be a good book for my nephew. He recently lost a pet and has been talking about going to a shelter with his parents. His hope is to find a new one that can become part of their family.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

It's always heartbreaking when someone loses a pet. I hope your nephew is able to get another dog (or other pet). I think he would love this book.

Bookowlie, thanks for the great review. I like stories about rescued animals, even though I cry throughout them. Going to go look for this book now.

Thanks for the nice review. I like the description of the book as warm and appropriate for young children but I would worry about the use of bad grammar when reading to children. I wouldn't want them to learn the wrong thing.

Thanks for the feedback and welcome to the forums. :) I agree that the grammatical errors don't set a good example for kids, particularly for beginning readers. Still, the story is very cute and Bear is a dog anyone would love.

Even though it's a children's book, I think I would like to read this sweet story.

From your review, I think this is a perfect book for a grandson who, like his Granny (me), is animal crazy! Thanks. And the photos will be a wonderful plus. Off to find it on Amazon.

Thanks Marni and June8 for taking the time to read my review and post a comment. :) June, if you decide to read the book with your grandson, there is a discussion about the book in the Book of the Month forum.
