Important Question about OBC Terms

Post by Tiffany Dowell »

So, I chose a book to review, and reading it, well, I have an important question.

The author is a military veteran, and I've learned some things about him through his book that are very important to me.

I ran a non-profit for 10 years, which I retired from in 2023 with the birth of my son, that applied everything he talks about in his book, exactly the way that he speaks of it, to the general public, reaching far beyond just veterans. We sat with people for days, pulling them back from suicide, assisted with financial problems, assisted people with addiction or alcoholism recovery, helped heal families through divorce or to divorce and separate in cases of domestic, caught child predators, assisted with legal matters, and re-worked the lives of murderers, to name a few things.

The author is writing for veterans, many of the people we assisted with military veterans literally from and in the same things that he wrote his book to completely expose in his own life, raise awareness, and help. His book uses the same methods, life applications, and thought processes. for the same purposes and reasons, that we did every day.

The non-profit is now "in stasis", because I could not find anyone who could take over, who wanted to. They either didn't have the experience, didn't have the personal investment, didn't have the history, or didn't have the will to do so.

I would like to, after my review is finished, published, t's crossed, i's dotted, etc, extend an offer that if he would like to "give it a shot", so to speak, maybe he would like to have a go at it.

Of course, I am NOT asking OBC to put us in contact, or to liason, or to disclose his information, or be involved at all. I do know that the terms state we are NOT to have any contact with the authors.

IF I agree to NOT review anything written by him again for OBC, and do NOT contact him until AFTER the review is fully completed and moved on from, would me contacting him still be a breach of those terms?

This thing reached hundreds of thousands of people, and he's exactly what we looked for in people to help us do it. So, this is kind of important. IF it's something he would want to do, he can have a lot more impact than just writing a book.
